      "In May, 1637, Richard with the other able bodied men of the Colony, 40 in number, were forced to make war on the Pequot Indians at Graton. On 14 Jan 1638, Richard participated in the adoption of the "Fundemental Order", the first written Constitution known to history. Richard married about 1640 Mary ---? who probably was born in England.

      Oct., 11648, Richard Risley, Sr. died at Hockanum, leaving his wife and three children. His inventory is in Trumbull Colonial Records I. p 468, and at the end are named three children: Sarah M. Haynes; Samuel B 1 Nov 1645-8 July 1670 and Richard b 2 Aug 1648 " Source: Brainerd History p 44.
